More about the 2006 Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Board Governance..
These Awards are made every two years in recognition organisations which are judged to have achieved a level of excellence in their governance practice. The awards are presented at the Building Better Boards Conference.
Any board of a nonprofit organisation can be nominated for this Award, from local community management groups, to professional and trade associations, to national charities and federated organisations. There are no limitations on the type or size of nonprofit organisations that can be nominated.
Nominees were assessed on a number of key issues including:
- Accountability process
- Sustainable change process
- Professional development issues for the Board Members
- Clarity between governance responsibilities and role (Board) and management responsibilities (CEO)
There was a very strong field in 2006 which set a very high bar and congratulations are due to each of the winners:
